Official (re)Launch: The New Lonely Marketer

open.jpgThe new Lonely Marketer is now open! I’ve made the leap from WordPress.com to the hosted version of WordPress at my new domain – www.lonelymarketer.com. The early success of this blog has motivated me to expand the content and capabilities (and yes, I finally get the MyBlogLog widget!).

I first want to thank all of you that have made this blog a success thus far. I appreciate all the readers that have subscribed and all the community members that have commented and linked into my posts. There is a great group of marketing professionals in this community and I’m excited to be a part of it.

For those of you subscribed, I’m hoping your subscription just rolls over to the new site. If for some reason you experience problems or notice something not right, please contact me. I’d also like any feedback on the new site – positive or negative. I’m always looking for ways to improve.

Lastly, I want to thank Matt McGee and Lee Odden for not only having great content on their sites that helped me get my new domain set up, but also for answering questions offline via email. Thank you! Other incredible sites from which I got information for my move include Search Engine Land, Marketing Pilgrim, SEO by the Sea and Andy Beard.

For more background on me and my blog, check out the About page and the Lonely Marketer Defined page which outlines how the name came to be.

As always THANK YOU for visiting!

It can be really satisfying to be on your own domain. Congratulations on the move.

I’m looking forward to more interesting posts from you in the future. Now I’m going to go see if my feed subscription did flow over seamlessly.

Cheers.

Congrats, Patrick – looks great. If I notice anything unusual, I’ll give you a yell.

Great to meet you this week in Minneapolis!

Bill – Thank you for checking out the new site! Hopefully the feed will be okay. I’m curious to know if there are problems so please let me know.

Matt – Great to meet you as well! Thanks for stopping in at my new location.

Wooo we have a convert to .org ;)

Nice to see you have taken a brave step. WordPress.com isn’t really meant for any kind of business blog.

Something I noticed, grab the Feedburner replacement plugin from Ordered List – it rocks.

Then make sure any manually created links point to http://www.lonelymarketer.com/feed/

Next question… how are you creating those Technorati tags?

I recommend always having tags pointing to internal tag pages.

If you need some help on setting UTW up, just let me know.

Added you to Technorati favorites which might help your spidering

Andy – Thanks for visiting and for the feedback! I appreciate it. I’ve added you as a Technorati favorite as well.

I’ll for sure check out the Ordered List plug-in. I don’t think I’ve seen that one.

As for the tags, I am using UTW. It’s definitely the most comprehensive. I will take you up on your offer on configuration – I’ll follow-up off-line.

Thanks again, Andy!

The feed doesn’t seem to have moved over for me in bloglines. I subscribed under the new address.

Thanks for the feedback, Bill. I have alot of subscribers at Bloglines so I’ll look into it.

Something else I have spotted that is actually pretty bad.

The theme you chose unfortunately has the left and right sidebars showing first before you content.

My advice would be to ditch the theme :(

Thanks, Andy. I came across that as well rather late in the process. I took it for granted that the themes would be properly coded! I like the flexibility of this theme, but have started to look for something else.

I noticed it because your post was picked up on the Megite Toprank meme and what was shown was your sidebar text.

You are not the only one with the problem however.

It also allows you to have more in the sidebar without interrupting reading due to load times.

Congratulations on the move! Looking forward to more great discussions and topics. Keep up the good work.

Barrett – thank you for checking out the new site! I’m a fan of your quality blog as well.

[...] I Was Tagged and Almost Missed It! By Patrick Schaber With the moving of my blog and some recent travel I almost missed being tagged by Chris! I just checked my old blog and found the incoming link. Sorry for the delay, Chris! [...]

It was indeed a wise decision that you have made. For that you deserved the PR 6 that you are having now.
